WEEK – END  dalla Magna Grecia ai Sassi di Matera

1° Giorno

Arrivo, sistemazione in hotel, cena e pernottamento in hotel.

2° Giorno  POLICORO / ANGLONA / TURSI

Prima colazione e partenza per Policoro, visita delle rovine di Herakleia,colonia greca che fu preceduta nella stessa era da Siris,distrutta dopo la  metà del VI

Secolo da Metaponto.Si continua con la visita al Museo Nazionale della Siritide

di Policoro.Proseguimento per il Santuario di S. Maria di Anglona,uno dei più

famosi monumenti medievali della regione che secondo tradizione fu fondata

nel XII secolo sul sito della greca Pandosia.Si continua per Tursi , piccola cittadina

costruita dai Goti  tra il IV e V secolo. Pranzo presso il Borgo Antico Rabatana-Palazzo dei Poeti, degustazione di prodotti tipici lucani.Nel pomeriggio visita della

Rabatana o Arabatana rione del paese già “ Tana degli Arabi “ , dove i predatori

Saraceni si insediarono stabilmente.

Cena e pernottamento in hotel.

3° Giorno Matera

Prima colazione e partenza per Matera, incontro con la guida e visita a piedi della

città .L’itinerario comprende alcune fra le piu’ affascinanti zone dei “ Sassi di Matera “ : Sasso Caveoso,Rione Malve e Rione Casalnuovo , due tra i piu’ storici

rioni.Nel corso della visita sarà possibile visitare la Casa Grotta , tipicamente arredata che mostra come era organizzata la vita familiare nelle case dei Sassi, la

Chiesa Rupestre di San Pietro in Monterrone ( IX-X secolo d.C.), il Grottone,una grotta naturale senza nessun intervento dell’uomo, i siti utilizzati da Mel Gibson

durante le riprese del film “ The Passion “. Pranzo presso il Ristorante Tipico “Stano “.

Nel pomeriggio passeggiata a piedi nel centro storico con visita facoltativa al Museo Nazionale “ Ridola “.

Week end from the Magna Graecia to the Sassi of Matera

I DAY

Arrival, hotel accommodation and dinner.

 

II DAY POLICORO/ANGLONA/TURSI

Breakfast and leaving for Policoro. Guided tour in the HERAKLEIA ruins. Herakleia was a Greek Colony. Before then this Colony there was SIRIS that was destroyed by METAPONTO in the VI century b.C.

The tour continues with the Siritite of Policoro National Museum.

Continuation to the SANCTUARY of SANTA MARIA of ANGLONA. It was created on the ancient city of Pandosia. This Sanctuary is one of the most famous monument of the Middle Age in Basilicata Region.

The Guided Tour finishes with the small and nice city of TURSI. It was built by GOTI people between the IV and V century. Stop Lunch with tasting of our typical products to the famous BORGO ANTICO DEI POETI – PALAZZO DEI POETI. In the afternoon guided tour in the RABATANA or ARABATANA quarter called “Arab’s nest”, because they lived in this area.

Dinner and Accommodation in Hotel.

 

III DAY MATERA

Breakfast and leaving for Matera. Meeting with the Guide and walking tour in this beautiful city.

During the tour it will be possible to visit some of the most interesting places in the Sassi of Matera: SASSO CAVEOSO, MALVE AND CASALNUOVO AREA (the oldest part located in the Sassi).

In this tour it will be possible to enter in the CASA GROTTA (Rock House), Its furniture and tools give evidence of how daily life was organized here in the Sassi. The Rock Church of San Pietro in Monterrone, that testifies the presence of a community of Benedictine monks that settled here from XI to XIII century.

The Natural Cave, the only one located in the Sassi. During the Tour it will be possible to see the locations of the movie THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST by MEL GIBSON. Stop Lunch in a very local Restaurant “LA CUCINA CASERECCIA DI STANO”. In the afternoon walking tour in the Historical Centre. The entrance in the DOMENICO RIDOLA National Museum is optional.
